A twig snaps underneath a heavy foot. You check the wind for the 20th time by letting some sandy dirt trickle from your clenched hand. You wonder how anything so big as a Cape Buffalo cannot be seen from 30 yards, despite the thick thorn and brush. Nothing exists in your world beyond those scant 30 yards.
